Video: Nurse practitioner discusses CRP testing

The Longitude Prize is based in the UK and the winning team will be expected to market their test in the UK. To aid competitors to understand point-of-care diagnostic needs in the UK we have created this video to explore specific needs in UK clinics and within the National Health Service (NHS).

Currently, there are limited point-of-care tests (POCT) available within NHS clinics designed to rule-out or -in antibiotic use.  In this video, Elizabeth Cross, a nurse practitioner in the Greater London Region, outlines the challenge for patients and the system when diagnoses based on clinical symptoms are inaccurate or inconclusive.

Elizabeth Cross, Nurse Practioner, CLARHC fellow NIHR East of England Attenborough Surgery presented ‘C-reactive protein (CRP) point-of-care testing: to improve diagnosis times and enhance patient experience’ for Longitude Prize competitors in India on 7 December 2018, Mumbai at the BIRAC Longitude Prize Accelerator programme.
