Dr Zarir F Udwadia is a Consultant Chest Physician at the Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai. He has a special interest and expertise in drug-resistant tuberculosis. Around 8,000 patients pass through his busy OPD annually; many are difficult MDR-TB patients referred by colleagues from across the country. He has 130 PubMed publications and more than 7,000 citations, and is co-author of Principles of Respiratory Medicine, published by Oxford International. His recent publication of the first Indian patients with Totally Drug-Resistant TB attracted intense media and medical interest from across the globe and served to galvanise great change in the community.
