About the Team:
Coris BioConcept is a middle-sized company (SME) 13485 ISO certified and specialized in developing, manufacturing and marketing rapid diagnostic tests distributed in more than 60 countries over the world. These tests are based on strip chromatography principle with the use of colloidal gold particles, latex microspheres or fluorescent dyes (ICT). The ICT range allow for detection of infectious diseases including enteric pathogens and respiratory pathogens. A new range of ICT products have been recently developed for detecting carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE). Five major parameters are targeted, i.e. OXA48, KPC, NDM, VIM and IMP. Today OXA48, KPC and NDM are already developed and are clinically validated. These lateral flow assays (OXA-48, OXA-163, KPC & NDM K-SeT) detect specifically carbapenemases from bacterial colonies in less than 15 minutes. Two new products will be launched in 2017, i.e. for VIM and OXA-23 detection.
Coris has also developped a new multiplex diagnostic platform based on the microfluidic technology for multiplex diagnosis (Lab-On-Chip). This platform is made of an instrument and dedicated microfluidic chips for running the tests. The first tests are developed in the field of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Two products for identifying Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria from blood-culture along with some resistance parameters are developed. Both multiplex molecular tests and immunological ones are completed in 15 minutes.
Our assays are based on the immunochromatographic technology. Specific monoclonal antibodies are adsorbed on a nitrocellulose membrane. Conjugates are made of colloidal gold particles coated with specific monoclonal antibodies and are dried on pads. Each carbapenemase is thus detected by two monoclonals. Tests are performed in a maximum of 15 minutes with high accuracy (up to 100%) comparing to PCR and genotyping. Results can be observed directly by naked-eye or with a lateral-flow reader.
