Module Innovations is a technology startup located in Pune, India, specialising in rapid and point-of-care diagnostics.
In 2017, Module Innovations received a Discovery Award from the Longitude Prize on AMR to further develop its rapid uropathogenic diagnostic test, USense.
“It’s a global problem affecting 150 million people around the world. Therefore we entered into the space of UTI diagnostics, to bring a diagnostic for a confirmed UTI test at the point of care for the patient.” – Sachin Dubey, Co-founder and CEO of Module Innovations.
USense is a rapid, point-of-care test that detects 4 major uropathogens in 15 minutes. One drop of buffer and urine sample are added into the four vials and a test strip for each uropathogen inserted. The appearance of a double band indicates a urinary tract infection and the main causing pathogen, while a single control band indicates a negative result. The test can be done at the point of care with results visible to naked eye, allowing evidence-based treatment with antibiotics.
Being a Longitude Prize on AMR competitor has connected Module Innovations with key technological advisors and enabled the team to refine USense to become an accessible, rapid, point-of-care test applicable in global settings.
“We feel really lucky to be part of the team which is fighting against AMR.” – Usman Khan, Co-founder and CEO of Module Innovations.
